About the Initiative

In 2018, the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), the .ZA Domain Name Authority (ZADNA), and the ZA Registry Consortium (ZARC) launched a collaborative programme to make it easier for newly registered South African companies, close corporations and co-operatives to secure a matching za domain name.

The goal is simple: help formal businesses establish a credible online presence from day one, protect their brand, and grow South Africa’s digital economy. Since inception, more than 9 500 domains have been registered through this programme.

CIPC handles the initial one-year registration. To use the domain for a website, email or other services, it must be transferred to an accredited commercial registrar within 12 months.

Your domain is currently on a temporary parking page. Follow these steps to activate it:

1. Choose a registrar
   Select one of the recommended partner registrars listed below (or any other ZARC Accredited Registrar) that offers the website hosting and email services you need.
2. Create an account and request the transfer
   Contact the registrar, open an account, and initiate the transfer of this domain.
3. Approve the transfer
   You will receive an email (check both Inbox and Spam/Junk folders). Click the approval link. Once approved, the domain moves to your chosen registrar and can be fully activated.

Important

• You remain the legal owner (Registrant) of the domain at all times.
• The domain transfer is free of charge from the registry side.
• You must complete the transfer within one year of registration. If it is not transferred before the anniversary date, the domain will enter the deletion process and may become available for others to register.
