Registrant Voting Procedure

The following section looks to show how the voting procedure works for the registrant. The purpose of this section is to outline what will happen when the registrant votes, chooses not to vote, and the registrar position on a transferring domain. If a Transfer request has been issued by a registrar to change sponsorship of a domain, an e-mailing voting procedure begins for the registrant. The voting exists so that the registrant can have his say in whether or not the domain is transferred to another sponsoring registrar.

The e-mail example is used to cast a vote on the transfer of a domain from the current registrar to a new registrar. The labelled links can be used for acccepting of the transfer or for denying of the transfer request.

Alternatively, a response using the MAGIC COOKIE as instructed in the emial may also be used.

approving/denying the transfer

By approving a transfer through the links provided in the email, the tranfer of the domian will be instantly succesful and the domain will be transferred to the requesting registrar.

The denial of a transfer by a registrant leads to 4 possible options:

1. If the current registrar has not voted and only the registrant has voted to deny the transfer, then the domain will not be transfered at the end of the policy period.

2. If the current registrar denies the transfer and the registrant has voted to deny it as well, then the transfer will not go through at the end of the policy period.

3. If the current registrar approves the transfer and the registrant has voted to deny the transfer, then the domain will be transfered at the end of the policy period.

4. If no votes have been cast by either the registrar or the potential losing registrar, the transfer is automatically rejected at the end of the policy period.
